GIF Typer is a small application that was designed to be a tool to prepare GIF files between GIF viewing applications like QuickGIF and Giffer and communication packages like Fetch and White Knight. When GIF files are brought into the Mac, they are often of a type unknown to GIF viewers. In the past, this forced a GIF frequenter to have to suffix all files with .gif. This is a particular hassle when a large quantity of Gifs are pulled in off the Internet or a high speed modem. GIF Typer offers a neat fix for this problem.
To use GIF Typer, simply drag and drop a file on top of GIF Typer's icon in the Finder:

GIF Typer will launch and convert the files to a GIF format and quit, all in the blink of an eye. Multiple files can be converted by selecting a group of files and dropping them on GIF Typer:

Files that have been converted will be endowed with a new colorful icon that all Mac viewers will recognize as GIFs. (Yes, the icons are a little bit of a knock off on QuickGIF...we hope you like ╘em).
Because GIF Typer relies on AppleEvents, it will only work on System 7.0 or later. On previous version of the operating system, GIF Typer will not convert the files. GIF Typer should also work with A/UX version 3.0 when it is available, although it hasn't yet been tested.
GIF Typer is freeware, but it isn╒t in the public domain. You may distrubute GIF Typer as freely as you would like, but never for $$$$, and always with this documentation!
